With over 10 years’ experience, our current Therapeutic Residential Care services continue to produce positive outcomes for the children and young people living with us. These services are based on contemporary Trauma Informed approaches, and take an individual approach to each young person’s needs and aspirations.
About the opportunities
Junction Australia is looking to welcome Therapeutic Support Workers to their northern or southern Adelaide houses, focusing on children and young people within the houses with a view to improving their confidence and self-esteem through the promotion of positive attitudes and lifestyle choices.
Reporting to the House Supervisor, Therapeutic Support Workers are responsible for providing a safe and secure environment, maintaining a ‘home-like’ feeling and assisting children and young people to develop social and living skills. You will plan daily activities and undertake general housekeeping duties, working closely with clients while also interacting with government and non-government agencies as well as members of the community to ensure clients continue to have access and support for activities and other services as required.
Some of your daily duties will include:
- Facilitating client participation in a range of educational and recreational activities to enhance their physical, social, emotional and intellectual development;
- Producing accurate case notes, interaction records, log entries, Client Incident Reports, and plans;
- Maintaining the property in a clean and hygienic manner; and
- Planning and preparing meals for children and young people in line with healthy food choices and safe food-handling requirements.
We are looking for:
- As a minimum, successful completion of a Certificate lV in Youth Work (or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience in responding to trauma related behaviours
- The ability to work across 24/7 roster and undertake passive (sleepover) and active night shifts
- Sound interpersonal skills to effectively engage and establish rapport with clients, staff and external agencies
You will need to:
- Complete our online application process

- Provide a current (within 3 years) DCSI Child Related Employment Screening Assessment
- Provide a current First Aid Certificate
- Provide a current Child Safe Environments Certificate
- Hold a current unencumbered Australian driver’s licence and be willing to drive
- Be prepared to undertake Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training within 6 months of commencing with Junction Australia
